Welcome to Chaneeg Chaneesch, a common ground gathering place.

Co-created by a widespread community circle of like-minded women, men, the land, and all our relations. We gather together through our commitment to healing the Earth, ourselves and each other through sacred ceremony and fellowship. Each month we offer sacred sweat lodge ceremony, moon ceremony, and less often, sacred pipe healing ceremonies in a tradition of the Rainbow Nation, where all are welcome. Bright Owl's stewardship and guidance are based on many years of experience and study with teachers such as Sun Bear and OhShinnah Fastwolf, Ram Dass and the Course in Miracles. We all bring our own experiences and find a voice here in an atmosphere of acceptance and teaching each other. Some sweat and other ceremonies are also led by students of Bright Owl.

The following guidelines will provide you information concerning how to prepare for the various ceremonies, and what your needs and provisions may be. Please consider bringing a donation of $10 or whatever you feel good about each time you come and affirm the abundance available to all of us. The Earth Mother truly meets all our needs, especially when we share with each other.

SWEATLODGE: Please come prepared for sweat ceremony with a couple of towels, a bottle of water, a bundle of kindling or firewood, and a potluck food dish for our feast afterwards. It is best to fast the day of sweat before the ceremony unless you have health issues that dictate otherwise. This lightens your body and makes it easier to hear the messages from spirit that may be waiting for you... We generally sweat in same sex groups where clothing is optional. When we sweat co-ed, we wear shorts and tshirts or dresses. Also, it is traditional to bring for your sweat leader a medicine giveaway. This could include tobacco, cornmeal, red (or other colors) cotton cloth, white cotton string, (these things are used for the ceremonies by all of us), or whatever speaks to your heart. The giveaway is a gesture of your energy and an honoring of the energy that you have received as a result of the ceremony of other's service to you. We also have the option of two giveaway pouches for monetary giveaways: one for the land (this takes care of the wood we use and the mailing costs and costs of maintaining the lodges and the trail), and one for our adopted Native Elder family. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the source of our learning, and to know that the land, the work of the people, and the elders benefit from the sharing that we do. We are also grateful for your participation and sharing of abundance.

MOON CEREMONY: This ceremony comes to us from OhShinnah and is a 40,000 year old ceremony practiced by women worldwide. This ceremony occurs on varying levels. First level is open to men and women, however each level therafter is open only to women and requires prerequisites, as it carries all those generations of female energy and honors the Goddess. (Call for more info.) You will need to bring a grass mat or a comfortable natural fabric blanket, warm clothes, mud boots (depending on the weather) and a special stone that will carry your own beautiful golden dream and will stay on the land. Please bring anything else that you need to takecare of yourself. Expect teaching about the ceremony before the first level.

PIPE CEREMONY: we encourage folks to attend the pipe circle of Starfeather on the full moon in Edmonds and the pipe circle of Dawn Songfeather on the last Tuesday of the month in Snohomish. These circles are also in our Rainbow tradition as gifted to us from the Bear Tribe. Our own pipe circle happens generally on the second Sunday afternoon at Tom Spirithawk Outsen's house. Pipecarriers in this tradition, please call for information about attending the healing ceremonies we do. Please feel free to call for information on anything having to do with the sacred Pipe, including carrying sacred pipe. Bright Owl was given permission to open pipes to this tradition many years ago.
